Salem Family Health Center (SFHC), a division of North Shore Community Health (NSCH), has received $1M towards a new site in downtown Salem. The new location will be at the corner of Derby and Lafayette Streets and be adjacent to new low-income senior housing which will be developed and managed by the North Shore Community Development Corporation (NSCDC).

On March 10th, Congress passed an appropriations bill which included Community Partner Funding for the site and additional support for the Ukraine. “We want to thank Rep. Moulton, Senators Warren and Markey for their support. It’s really heartening to see the recognition that our work and our patients matter.” –Maggie Brennan, President and CEO. She continued, “The new health center will allow us to provide more critical services in a state-of-the-art facility because our patients deserve better access to quality care and facilities.”

A substantial demand exists for additional primary care, dental, and behavioral health in the North Shore. Despite the need, SFHC struggles to provide same-day appointment access due largely to lack of space. In addition to the services it already provides, the new SFHC will include urgent care services which will be open to the community.  MassHealth claims data indicates that patients would significantly benefit from access to these services, including X-rays, to prevent long waits at the Emergency Department at MGB Salem. The new building will include space for medical and dental care, urgent care, and behavioral health services.
